Don’t be a Book Author / Be a Book Hacker
Just like any one of you, my dear friends, I am currently a full time IT employee. My day starts at 9 AM and ends somewhere around 7 PM or later depending upon my workload. I have meetings to attend during the day time and very little time in between my meetings to squeeze my lunch and coffee breaks. I have 24 hours just like any one of you. And in that 24, I believe most of you might also have 6 to 7 hours of quality time for yourself. I have written two psychological thrillers without taking break from work. I have a social life. I don’t miss birthday parties. I watch movies with friends and family. I didn’t take years to complete the books. First book took somewhere around 4 months and post that, my second took barely a month or so. As an author, i had multiple chances to address the crowd. On most occasions, I tell my story of how i became an author and what were my inspiration and the story behind coming up with my stories. When i am done with my story and during the Q and A, the most common question is How do you get time to write? I so much want to write but i don’t get time or i don’t have the energy to even switch my laptop on…. If I was a person who would write only during the 7 hours time, then i wouldn’t have completed any of my books. You cannot do all that within that time frame.I am going to share you my secret. It is very simple… All you need is the Notes or Keep App in your Mobile. I have made a pact with myself. Every day, i write 2-3 sentences about an event which happened at my work, my travel, or see happen for someone and along with that, write a genre to it Example: “Kiran was talking loudly to his girlfriend, animatedly moving his hands around. He was so engrossed in the conversation that he failed to notice our manager coming up behind him. Without any malicious intent, but in a rather humorous manner, Kiran accidentally gave our manager’s face a tight slap. I was at a loss for words. I quickly turned away to avoid making the situation any more awkward for everyone.” – HUMOUR I try to fill my Notes with as many incidents as possible. It would barely take a minute or less but this could go a long way. Next time during the time i sit to write, I just go through these list of incidents, i had noted and create the one best suited for my story. The major chunk of time spent wasted while writing a Novel is thinking what to write. You write what comes to your mind at that moment. It could be good or bad but why put yourself through that hardship while you can prepare yourself for writing way before the time you fixed for writing. Happy Writing! VJ Eshwar
